2022 Volunteer Implementation Plan
1. Communication for interest and attendance:
Mass email to the district offering training and education to anyone who is interested.
- Send out in October 2021, November 2021 and January 2022
- Contact the Association (November 2021) and invite them to our upcoming Rules Clinics.
- Communicate to each Board at their meetings throughout the year
- Presentation of recruiting training and retention at the Parents meetings for each league.
Ask leagues to do the recruiting and District 54 will help with the training
District will continue recruiting during our tournament season with dates / upcoming trainings for our 2022-2023 season. Will continue to promote the value and rewards of becoming a volunteer umpire and the impact to our local community, league and the youth playing Little League baseball.
2. Host Monthly Rules Clinics (Pre-Season)
- Open to all managers, coaches, game coordinators, youth and/or adult umpires and association umpires.
- Clinics will be hosted online on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays during the preseason (December - February)
- Focus on prepared lessons covering a different topic, each session
During the Season
Hosted on the 3rd Wednesdays, scenarios and open discussion
Tournament Preparation
Special session in May / June
3. On Field Training
- Conduct targeted trainings for youth (13-16) and adults (16+), refer to schedule above

- Additional clinics will be added during the season based upon demand

**$200 maximum in equipment certificates per year
- Program is annual
- All Certificates expire on September 30 annually
- Attending a "local league" clinic will count only if preapproved by District 54 UIC
Attend Western Regional Umpire Training, awarded a hat and collared shirt by:
- Attending a Western Region Umpire Training
- AND umpire six (6) games during regular season
5. Establish an Auxiliary Umpire Committee to assist with training and promoting the District Umpire Plan
Required for section umpires
6. District 54 Certification
Available to all persons who meet the following qualifications:
- Must attend four (4) field clinics
- Must attend four (4) rules clinics
- Must help train two (2) field clinics
- Must volunteer for 20+ regular season games
- Must complete required state and federal safety training
- Pass evaluation from Auxiliary Umpire Committee
Umpires who become District 54 certified will receive an additional $250 in umpire gear reimbursement.
