California District 54 Safety Plan

  2. District 54 publishes this safety plan on our website and will distribute a hardcopy to the staff members on March 6, 2019 staff meeting.

  4. District 54 uses LL volunteer form 2019 for all staff members and umpires used during tournament season.
  5. District 54 hosts, along with District 5, a coach’s clinic using the Lincoln Potter’s Baseball Club.This year’s clinic will be held at Potter’s Field Lincoln CA on 23 February 2019.
  6. District 54 allows each of their leagues to hold their own safety clinic with approval of the agenda by District 54 DA and Safety Officer.The district will also host’s a safety clinic on 23 February 2019 in Lincoln, CA.
  7. District 54 does NOT have any fields that they take care of during the season.We do stress to the tournament umpires that the fields should be walked for safety concerns.
  8. District 54 does NOT have any facilities that they are in charge of. So there is not a Facility Survey needed with this safety plan.
  9. District 54 does NOT have any concession stands that they are in charge of during the season.
  10. District 54 requires our Challenger equipment to be inspected at the start of each season by the Challenger Coordinator or the Safety Officer and items to be replaced for safety.
  11. District 54 requires each league within our boundaries to report any serious injuries/accidents to the District Safety Officer which might be reported to LL International.
  12. District 54 requires each of their tournament hosts to provide first aid kits at each site.This is done at the Tournament Director Meeting in June of each year.
  13. District 54 requires that all equipment used by their leagues to be proper and safe.
  14. As the District we don’t have roster data to submit.We do however do Background checks which are done by the DA each year.
  15. During District and All-Star tournaments staff and the Tournament Director will monitor:
    1. Air quality above the unhealthy range (AQI > 200) to see if games need to be postponed.
    2. Heat above 105 degrees Fahrenheit.Add mandatory water breaks, cooling fans or cold towels in dugouts.
    3. Rattle snakes or other wild animals near fields.Tournament directors should have contact information for local snake wranglers or animal control if needed.
  16. Safety Plan is completed by the DSO.
